According to Greek mythology, Pandora was the very first woman, formed out of clay by the gods. She was sent to Earth as part of a punishment against mankind for Prometheus’ theft of fire from Mount Olympus. Once on Earth, she opened a box — a jar, actually — releasing all the evils of mankind. Not a malicious act — she opened the box out of simple curiosity.
