Scientists at the University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia examined the retinas of 17 shark species and discovered that they are colorblind. The fish have at most only one type of photoreceptor (compared to three in humans). The discovery may help prevent attacks on humans, as well as lead to the manufacturing of fishing gear that will reduce shark bycatch.
