What is an Arcminute?

The distance from the Earth’s pole to the equator is divided into 90 degrees of latitude.

Each of those degrees is divided into 60 arcminutes. The length of an arcminute is the distance from the pole to the equator: 6,214 miles, divided by 90 x 60, or 1.15 miles/1 nautical mile.
